2f: Sofonisba Meeting

In the wondrous town of Boomport:
In a town with brilliant crafters,
In a town with cunning magic,
In a town with wealth and glory,
In a town with lordly leaders,
Thoughtful women met in council.

In the seedy town of Boomport:
In a town with filth and sewers,
In a town with burning petrol,
In a town with tortured horses,
In a town with desperate wretches,
Valiant women met in council.

In the bustling town of Boomport:
In a town with thriving shipyards,
In a town with vibrant markets,
In a town with twisty alleys,
In a town with crafty intrigue,
Skillful women met in council.

Captain Ra fal, of the river:
Decorated for her valor,
Known well for her strength and honor,
Natural leader, bold and cunning,
Chanting stories, chanting magic,
Chanting healing, chanting courage.

Gladys Joyjuice, self-made woman:
Skilled physician, master druggist,
Raging brawler, oft berserker,
Testing herbage, brewing potions,
Self-improver, brash and hardy,
Bold free thinker, mind afire.

Lady Tsinta, of the forest:
God-directed mystic beauty,
Life-affirming nature lover
Wielding cold and distant magic,
Moving where the spirits sent her
In the service of the woodlands.

Sofonisba Anguissola:
Arcane archer, sage and scholar,
Knowledge seeker, beauty seeker,
Skilled in all the ways of fighting,
Skilled in many types of knowledge,
Skilled in woodslore and equations.

Mabellyne, of clan Geargadget:
Careful thinker, careful talker,
Master tinker, metalworker,
Mechanisms were her servants.
Deep and thoughtful were her musings.
Quick and nimble were her fingers.

Bright young Mary, fearless princess:
Seeking more than she had grown with.
Open, caring, thoughtful, modest,
Quick to love, and quick to laughter.
In her young and eager soul there
Lay a great unknown potential.

All six women, all six heroes,
In a diner, they all gathered,
Coming from their separate homelands,
Coming with their many virtues,
Called there by the cryptic summons
Of the wizard Martin Cooper.

They had sent him their proposals,
Each had asked for him in marriage.
His response was cold and distant,
Harebrained, cryptic, maybe crafty:
He had sent them on a mission,
Searching space for special turnips.

This they figured, after musing:
He had thrown them all together
Just to see what they were made of.
When at last the mission finished
He would study their performance,
Gain the knowledge that he wanted.

Though they knew that they were rivals,
And that one would be the winner,
This they also knew for certain:
Martin valued peace and honor,
Those with skills and solid virtue,
Those who functioned well with others.

Long they talked and long they parleyed,
Learning of each others' virtues,
Finding trust, and gaining friendship,
Till they forged an understanding,
Forged at last a team of heroes
bound by oaths of trust and honor.

They would join their skills and treasures,
Buy a spaceship, do the mission,
Trust to Fate the final question
Of the marriage, who'd be chosen.
They knew Martin's choice was random.
Playing games would only hurt them.

With their spaceship, Kiss of Fortune
They would catch the winds and sail them,
Sail to islands, sail to space rocks,
Sail to biomes rich and wondrous
Joining for a great adventure:
Seeking turnips for a wizard.

Next (Mary)
Next Sofonisba
